PlayStation 5 Will Be In Stock Before The End Of The Year, Says Sony

Sony has expressed its appreciation in an announcement stating that the PlayStation 5 has achieved the strongest console launch in its history, and assures that there will be restocks before the end of 2020.

“Of all the things that I’ve learned this year, one is that I wouldn’t plan on doing another big console launch in the midst of a global pandemic, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody else,” said Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, recently. “It’s been difficult, it’s been challenging from the production side, not being able to get anybody into the factories in Asia… Before we started production, we had to do all the manufacturing preparation by camera remotely. I mean, just imagine that for a precision device like the PlayStation 5.”

We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever. Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year – please stay in touch with your local retailers.

The console’s launch has contended with production problems, freightage issues, and scarce stocks, owing to the coronavirus crisis beginning in 2019. As the year progressed and developers announced delay after delay to a number of anticipated games, it was even thought that Sony and Microsoft would push their console launches into 2021 to avoid the impact that the pandemic has had on the global economy. Neither made this move, and both managed to succeed in spite of the odds.

Of course, there are still aggravations over the PlayStation 5, where a lot of people still haven’t been able to purchase one due to the demand. Sony apologised for this, and reminded consumers that more stock would be supplied to retailers. That was whisked away as soon as it dropped, and this was partly achieved through automated bots purchasing for scalpers.
